Pros: Stands out at a distance, comfy for its size, very impressive for the money.
Cons: Not the world's easiest to read watch with its red-on-cream low contrast dial.
The Bottom Line: I very fun watch to wear. I enjoy owning it.

| reginaldperrin's Full Review: Invicta Force Collection Lefty Chrono Xl Leather #... |
The super large 52mm Invicta Terra 4539 (sand dial / black case) chronograph lefty watch (aka IN4539) is the newest of my collection. Other Invicta military style Terra lefty's I own are the 52mm 4538, 46mm 3332 and the 46mm 3392. Please see my individual reviews for each of them for unique details.
Although the 4539's official color designation is SAND, in my opinion, specially outdoors in daylight, the dial of the 4539 looks to be more in the yellow family than in the tan or orange family. More like banana cream and less like beach sand if you ask me.
The Invicta Terra sand dial chronograph lefty is a hefty over-sized 52mm men's watch with a dark brown leather strap. The brown leather is a nice match to the banana cream color dial. The flat crystals of these 52mm lefties have an anti-reflection coating, however, with the sand dial of the 4539, the anti-reflection coating is unremarkable compared with the darker dial watches. A fairly big difference between the black 4538 and the sand 4539, is the 4539 has rings of red second and tenth of a second markers while the 4538 has white markers on black. Also, the sand 4539 has a long red second sweep hand, and the chronograph hand in the 3:00 circle is also solid red in color. This red-on-sand color scheme creates very little contrast in comparison to the white-on-black basic color scheme of the 4538. True, the 52mm 4539 contains more 24-hour numbers and chronograph markers than the 46mm Invicta lefties of old, but the red on sand coloring makes a much more subtle presentation close-up, than my 46mm 3392 and 3332. However, the primary 12-hour numbers on the 4539 have a shiny black metal outline, and in general the sand (or banana cream) color dial of the Invicta 4539 is not difficult to read in most lighting conditions.
While the sand color dial has far less razzle-dazzle than the black dial lefties when viewed close up, at a distance the total look of the 4539 with its yellowish dial encased inside its black ion plated case really pops out. In fact, I would say from across a large room the sand 4539 stands out the most, while at medium distances the red-accented black dial / black case 4538 stands out the most, while close-up the more sporty black dial / black case 3332 with its yellow accents stands out the most.
If white numbers on a black dial / black case offers a military flair, then this banana cream dial / black case Invicta 4539 offers more of a surfer style flair.
I find the Invicta 52mm Terra lefty's to be comfortable, the quartz time keeping to be accurate, and the leather straps to be solidly built. All of the Invictas I own have average glow-in-the-dark abilities.
