I have two perspectives on Anthony's Pier Four. I am a Boston resident, and when younger, I was a waitress at Anthony's and got to know the restaurant very well. Here are my feelings about the restaurant:
Great Atmosphere: Very professional staff and the decor and lighting are very authentic and nautical.
There is a lovely indoor and outdoor cocktail sitting area with stone fireplaces and ocean views while you wait for your table.
The dress is preferably fancy, but not black tie.
The dinners are out of this world. You can watch the open hearth and the sizzling filet mignon's being cooked to perfection right before your eyes and if you order a lobster it will be brought out of the wading pool alive and to your table for approval before it is cooked!
The lobster bisque is better than any other I've ever tasted. I could literally drink it.
Their wine selection is impeccable, they have a wine cellar stocked to the brim with as many wines and champagnes to please the most particular diner.
A dinner for two with wine and tip will definitely run you at least 100.00 or more, so bring your $.
There is not usually a very long wait because the dining room is so very large and the building is surrounded with windows so even getting a bad seat will allow you ocean views.
The pop-overs are lovely, warm, and original to Anthony's. A hostess comes around with steaming pop-overs in a basket to every guest. Service is wonderful.
There is free parking and the city is steps away for a night on the town!
My only negative:
I don't get to eat there enough!
